Making History

November 5th, 2008

As we all know now, the polls were indeed correct. Barack Obama is our new President-Elect, and will assume the office in January. We hoped and prayed that by some miracle John McCain and Sarah Palin would pull this one out of the bag. It was illogical to think that they had a chance. My heart was in it for the last few weeks, but my brain kept telling me otherwise.

Barack Obama will become the first black President of the United States. This is certainly a remarkable thing. It is history making. While I do not think he was the correct black man for the job, I am filled with pride that race did not decide this election. This should mark the official end of the most dark chapter in our country. We are not a racist country, and have not been for a long time. We are a country that clings to hope for a better future for our children, and holds ideals that are greater than ourselves close to our hearts.

The race baiters should now be put to bed. We saw Jesse Jackson crying last night. He may have been crying because a black man finally got elected President, or he may have been crying because his racist shyster ass is out of business.

So, this is the good aspect of Obama’s win. The bad aspects are nearly innumerable, and we will discuss these in length for years to come no doubt. This post is a shout out to all the blacks of America. Congratulations. You have one of your own in the highest office in the land. This should be a proud moment, and should inspire you all to elevate yourselves just as Obama has through hard work and dedication to your goals.

Even though my guy did not win, I am proud to be an American today, and see myself as part of the loyal opposition that is being formed right now.

Indeed. As a proud white American woman, I can tell you that there is reason for blacks to celebrate and for the world to now realize that we are not the racist, bigoted, imperialist western evil empire that they once thought. As Americans united, we have accomplished what no one thought we would ever accomplish. I am and will be proud of that legacy. As far as the years to come, who knows? The saga continues. Personally, I will continue to work hard and excel at what I do in my spiritual life, in my home and at my job. GOD BLESS AMERICA!
