Song of the Week

December 3rd, 2008

Unfortunately a couple of weeks were missed here for my Song of the Week. After thinking about posting three songs to make up for the shortage, I decided not to. Those weeks are gone, and will never be regained. So without further delay, here is the song for this week.

Continuing the jazz theme, although in a totally different genre of jazz, we have the classic “Take Five” by the Dave Brubek Quartet.

Edit: OK I gotta add one more. This is my favorite house jam from back when I actually went clubing, which seems like a lifetime ago. Hearing it now, brings back a lot of memories, both good and bad. This song is funky!

I forget how I got to your site. But the 5 it took to Take 5 was worth the trip.

Imagine, actual musicians wearing coats and ties. Playing actual music that moves a heart.

And, it moved me to remember so long ago, when Take 5 was the IT tune of my age.

    Brubeck/Desmond still rule the scales.

    Thanks for the memories,
    Gale

Then I scrolled over the utube preview bar to see Blue Rondo a la Turk.

G&G you just made my day!

    Thanks, friend.

Thanks for visiting Gale. Take 5 came out long before I was born. Something tells me that my birth should have been fifty years earlier however. I never lived during the time that men actually dressed well, with a hat and all, before they left the house. It seems to be a bygone era that I will never experience unfortunately. Glad you enjoyed the song.
