Bankrupting the Country is Patriotic
April 15th, 2009
Paul Begala, a well known Clintonite hack, has an opinion piece on cnn.com today. Let’s take a look at it shall we.
Happy Patriots’ Day. April 15 is the one day a year when our country asks something of us — or at least the vast majority of us.
This piece starts off with a real zinger. Today is the only day we have to pay taxes folks! Don’t pay attention to the fact that the average American has worked every day up until this point, just to pay off his yearly tax debt. He continues with a huge lie. The vast majority of us don’t pay taxes. Around forty percent of the population do not. Forty percent. The rest of us carry the load for them. How American of us!
For those who wear a military uniform, those who serve the rest of us as policemen and firefighters and teachers and other public servants, every day is patriots’ day. They work hard for our country; many risk their lives — and some lose their lives.
But for the rest of us, the civilian majority, our government asks very little. Except for April 15. On this day, our government asks that we pay our fair share of taxes to keep our beloved country strong and safe.
Next he acts as if teachers, and the local mailman are somehow equivalent to soldiers. Every one of the ever expanding mass of government employees are some kind of altruistic bunch of folks, that simply work for the good of the rest of us.
Can’t you just feel the liberal white guilt in this segment? We lowly commoners should feel guilty for earning an actual wage and contributing something productive to society.
You know this segment really offends me. The government does not ask very little. They continually encroach upon my freedom with their nanny state policies, and continue to tax me to death bit by bit. The stupidest part of this entire bit, is the feigned honor toward the military, and the implication that we are simply paying to keep the country safe.
As part of the Clinton administration, this man worked to tear down our military. Now his beloved leader is doing the same thing. Cutting spending for the military, while increasing government handouts. Only the truly stupid would actually buy into this lame attempt to spank us for being upset.
Freedom isn’t free. That’s what the courageous World War II veterans of the American Legion taught me back in Texas Boys State decades ago. That phrase had special meaning for them. Those guys had seen buddies blown apart at Anzio or Guadalcanal.
I grew up in a different era. There was no draft, and while I have friends and family members who joined the military, most of my peers, like me, opted for the security and prosperity of the private sector.
This country has showered me with the blessings of liberty. So what do I owe my country in return? Paying my fair share of taxes, it seems, is the least I can do. Thanks to President Obama and the Democratic Congress, 95 percent of Americans will get a tax cut this year. No one — not even the wealthiest 1 percent — will have to pay higher income taxes until 2011.
Somehow I doubt the guys down at the American Legion fought for this country so shmucks like Begala mortgage the future of our children for generations to come. Mr. Begala did not learn much while in Texas unfortunately. If he had, he would know that we don’t like paying for a bloated federal government. The fact that he and his cronies cut military spending every chance they get, again, makes this a bit disingenuous.
There is no draft now, so I have no idea what that statement was all about. It looks like some kind of backhanded compliment to those who chose to sacrifice and serve in the military.
Finally he praises Obama for his tax cuts. Whooptie-do. He is doing exactly what the democrats excoriated Bush for. Cutting taxes, while not cutting spending. Obama is not only doing that, but he is raising spending to previously unimagined levels, and actually bragging about it like it is a good thing.
So why are a bunch of Fox News clowns and right-wing cranks hosting “tea parties” all over the country? The Boston Tea Party, in case the clods at Fox didn’t know it, protested “taxation without representation.” Note the second word: without. The goofballs tossing tea bags today have representation. They voted in the election; they lost.
That a bunch of overpaid media millionaires would lead a faux-populist revolt is comical. They somehow held their populist instincts in check as George W. Bush and the Republicans cut taxes on the idle rich and put the screws to the working stiffs.
This is where this collectivist douche bag starts to get nasty. I guess this passes for journalism now-a-days. What a shame. Your lowly host has no illusions of being a journalist, so calling this clown a douche bag is nothing to me. He is.
He starts by calling of the everyday people going to the events Fox News clowns and right-wing cranks. This is pretty funny coming from a bureaucrat CNN left-wing crank. Seriously dude, what were you thinking when you wrote that. You not only are a former Clinton official, you work for CNN, and get paid to be a left-wing political wonk.
Then he calls us all clods for not understanding what the original tea party was about. He fails to grasp the concept that the current tea parties are not about the same concept. He is as sharp as mud folks. Begala continues by letting us know that we lost in the election, so we should just sit down and shut up.
So much for dissent being patriotic eh? This whole column is designed to question the patriotism of the people protesting. Of course these fools wailed with indignation when the right supposedly questioned their patriotism over actively rooting for the enemy while we were at war. Yes, socialist hypocrisy knows no bounds.
This has nothing to do with populism Mr. Begala. We are tired of you collectivist jackasses running our country into the mud with your out of control spending. We are fiercely individualist Americans that want none of your overreaching government teat. We simple wish you would leave us the hell alone, and do what the Constitution told you to do. Provide for the common defense, and settle argument between the states.
Begala brings out the tired and roundly disproven notion that Bush cut taxes only on the rich. This is such a stupid lie, that I won’t bother to go over it once again. It is simply false. I guess these idiots think that it will be true if they repeat it often enough.
Bush’s tax policies were a godsend to the Paris Hilton class, but they sent the country on the road to bankruptcy and helped ruin the economy. But now that we the people have decided to set things right, now that we’ve hired Obama to fix the mess conservatives created, now they’re protesting?
This is rich. I would like to see how tax cuts for anyone helped ruin the economy. This is obviously a mentally challenged statement to say the least. Depriving the Treasury and congress of money to play with has no effect, but a positive one, on the economy. Giving people more money of their own to spend is not a drag on the economy. If it is why is Obama continuing with such a disastrous policy.
This hack is so full of crap that he praises Obama for cutting taxes in one paragraph, and then claims that Bush ruined the economy by doing the same thing! Then he states that the people voted to set thing straight by voting for Obama, whom he praised for doing the same thing Bush did before. Wow that circular logic is a bitch.
So he is chiding us for being upset that Obama has mortgaged the future of the country for generations. That is the point of the entire piece. We should be ashamed, and are lowlife America haters, for being upset about it. Well, all I can say in response is simply, screw you Mr. Begala.
We are upset. We are not party hacks such as yourself. We are every day hard working Americans that don’t want you slimy political hacks screwing us for generations.
Give me a break. Instead of tossing tea bags for the cameras, the Fox phonies ought to go to Walter Reed Army Medical Center. There they would find better, braver men who have truly sacrificed for their country. They deserve nothing but the best — not the shameful and shoddy conditions they endured during the Bush administration. iReport.com: Share your thoughts on taxes and tea parties
You want something to protest? How ’bout protesting how little we give back to our veterans? Or how ’bout protesting that the entire budget of the National Cancer Institute (where government researchers battle a disease that will strike half of all men and a third of all women) is 0.03 percent of what we gave the bandits at American International Group alone? Oh, but veterans benefits and cancer research might cost money. It might require — dare I say it? — paying taxes.
If the whiners at Fox News want to advertise their selfishness, they are free to do so. But please don’t dress it up as patriotism. Patriotism is putting your country ahead of yourself — which is the precise opposite of what the tea party plutocrats are doing.
He finishes up with a simply retarded trotting out of veterans and cancer research? That cuts to the bone Mister. Your veiled hatred for the military does not escape us you apparatchik bastard.
Calling Americans selfish for holding our leaders responsible for how they spend OUR money is the height of arrogance. You asshats work for us, not the other way around. Don’t worry though. The people will realize their mistake. You overreaching communists have already gone too far, and you will be punished by the electorate soon. Until that day comes, we will be letting you know exactly what we think about you and your policies. In case you missed it, that is our right, and currently there is not a damn thing you can do about it.
By the way, we have another right that we will use if you try to stop us from exercising this one. You have been warned.

Not only is he a part of the Carville - Stephanopolous stupidity machine, he helped get Al Franken elected. Enough said about this idiot!
Begala can not FOAD quickly enough.
I see that you guys in TX have done/are doing the 10th Amendment Move that is becoming quite the rage of late. This makes TX pretty attractive in my view. My wife is really wanting us to move down that way (sooner the better), if we can swing it. We have some friends aroung Tyler who rave about their joint…but have you seen what’s going on in MT?…State level firearms production law…attempting to bypass the BATFE!!! Love to see where this one ends up.
