Atheists Post Billboard in Dallas

April 1st, 2009

So some atheists put up a billboard in Dallas like this.

Here is my wife’s response. :)

I realize that everyone that visits may not be a Christian, which is your complete right, this post does however line up to my beliefs, and is accurate with what the Bible has to say on the subject.

Die Spammers

March 31st, 2009

So, a while back I turned on comment moderation, because the blog was receiving tons of spam. This has stopped the visible spam completely of course, but I still get tons of it every day.

Wordpress also allows you to block posts that have certain strings in their url, email, subject, or body as well. Adding a few things like .ru, and some other common spam URL bits, I have cut it down to almost nothing. Unfortunately now all I have to deal with seems to be male enhancement pill posts.

Investing in Good Equipment

March 30th, 2009

When possible, I always choose to buy good quality tools. My experience has been that doing so saves money in the long run.

My wife cuts my hair for me. We had been using a cheap pair of clippers from Wal Mart, that were just terrible. They actually burnt out the last time she did it, several months ago. They would overheat, pull hair horribly, and usually required disassembly every time we used them.

So, after several months with no haircuts we decided yesterday it was time to get some decent tools for this. My wife agreed, as she hated cutting my hair with the inferior clippers. So off we went to a beauty supply house, intending to purchase a decent set of clippers and some good t-edgers for cleanup work.

After convincing the guy I was a barber :), he gave me the standard discount and I purchased a set of Oster Classic 76 clippers for $120. I also bought an Andis T-Outliner for around $65. These prices were slightly higher than what can be found online, but my hair really needed cutting. It grows very fast and is extremely thick. There was a 4″ long bush sitting atop my head, and it was time for it to go.

The Osters come with a #1 blade and a #000 blade set. The 000 set accepts plastic guards, so we got a set for $7. The Oster has an entire series of blades, so that guards are not necessary. Later on, we will probably purchase a set of either #2 or #2.5 blades, as they actually cut better than the 000 with a guard.

After getting this all home, I assumed the position, and the wife started cutting with a 1/4″ guard in place. She went from front to back right over the top of my head, and exclaimed “Wow!” instantly. The Osters ate right throw my thick bush of hair and the motor never slowed down a bit.

After a couple of minutes she was done with the basic cut, and I went to look at the results. The clippers did a great even job all over my entire dome.

These are professional clippers based on a tried and true design. They have cut a few corners however, which is to be expected now-a-days. I am assuming the original clipper had a metal case, while this one is plastic. That is probably a good thing actually, as the clipper is a large instrument, and would be heavy with a metal case. I also noticed that the switch on the bottom of the unit is plastic, where a metal one probably used to reside.

Neither of these items affect the performance of the clippers one bit however. The motor comes on smoothly without a hard start, and never got warm at all. The cord is heavy duty, and everything about the set just screams old school quality. The clipper body and blades are also manufactured in the United States.

Overall, I would recommend these clippers with no reservations to anyone interested in getting a set. The cost is a bit high, but is totally worth it. I believe Anarchangel had a post up about this set at one point, but I can not find it now.

After we were finished with the basic cut the wife tried out the Andis T-Outliner. This is a professional unit as well, and is also made in America. It is made in Racine, Wisconsin actually. This unit also exudes quality, with an old school industrial look.

They are hefty, yet maneuverable, and cut fairly close to the skin. They quit working at one point, but a quick cleaning took care of that. It looked like we over oiled the blade, and caused it to get stopped up. It is a very fine blade after all.

My beautiful wife did a wonderful and quick job with her new tools. There was no frustration, and she has agreed to cut my hair every two weeks. These two implements will pay for themselves after ten haircuts or so. We will save about $500 a year on haircuts now, and expect these two devices to last for many years to come.

Goodbye Old Friend

March 26th, 2009

Today is a sad day. I said goodbye to an old friend today. A good friend. A friend I could count on.

We just shut down my Lotus Domino Development server here at work. We have been phasing out Domino for about four years now, and have not built any new apps on it in years. As our department has shrunk recently, we have made it a priority to consolidate servers and decommission unnecessary ones.

So, about ten minutes ago, I entered the final q command in the Domino console, and turned out the lights on good ‘ol DOMINO-DEV. While I moved on long ago, to Java, and now .NET, I still did a bit of Domino development every few months. I would dutifully use my good friend to test my changes, and he never let me down.

I will never forget the day he was built. A shiny new 1-U Dell 1650, all for me. I was the only user that logged onto my little buddy, and as I said, he never failed me, in all these years. We had finally set up a proper environment. I no longer had to worry about crashing a production box, and I could hack to my hearts desire, with no worried, of an angry boss calling, because the website had gone down.

Farewell friend, you will be missed.

Everything Bad, Rolled Into One

March 24th, 2009

JONATHON PORRITT, one of Gordon Brown’s leading green advisers, is to warn that Britain must drastically reduce its population if it is to build a sustainable society.

Porritt’s call will come at this week’s annual conference of the Optimum Population Trust (OPT), of which he is patron.

The trust will release research suggesting UK population must be cut to 30m if the country wants to feed itself sustainably.

Porritt said: “Population growth, plus economic growth, is putting the world under terrible pressure.

“Each person in Britain has far more impact on the environment than those in developing countries so cutting our population is one way to reduce that impact.”

Population growth is one of the most politically sensitive environmental problems. The issues it raises, including religion, culture and immigration policy, have proved too toxic for most green groups.

However, Porritt is winning scientific backing. Professor Chris Rapley, director of the Science Museum, will use the OPT conference, to be held at the Royal Statistical Society, to warn that population growth could help derail attempts to cut greenhouse gas emissions.

Rapley, who formerly ran the British Antarctic Survey, said humanity was emitting the equivalent of 50 billion tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year.

“We have to cut this by 80%, and population growth is going to make that much harder,” he said.

Story

Honestly, I almost don’t know where to start with this one. It is all so maddeningly stupid, frightening, and sad at the same time, one is nearly left speechless. We have to look at this horrifying bit of news from several angles.

What happened to England?

As many of us have written, on many occasions, the once great British Empire is beyond dead. The continuous litany of evidence, of the downfall of my ancestral homeland, really is a sad, sad thing. The country that built the civilized world is slowly allowing themselves to be consumed by the very things that Sir Winston warned about so often is his writings. It is as if the average Briton, has lost his will, and is deliberately leading himself to the slaughter.

As Americans we should worry when we see our best ally crumbling from within. Tony Blair, the leftist that at least understood the terrorist threat, is no longer in charge, so that beacon of hope for the resurrection of this once grand country has now left us with the likes of Gordon Brown and his steaming cauldron of ne’er-do-wells. Maybe President Obama should be thanked for giving him a stack of worthless DVDs after all. Strike that. Neither of them grasp the significance of the dangers we face in the world, nor do the grasp the significance and importance of our partnership throughout the years.

So, you get the point. England is no more. We are left with a limp wristed conglomeration of people that have sold their collective souls to the nanny state. The country that once ruled the grandest empire the world has ever known, the country responsible for making the English speaking peoples the most successful in the world, and the country that spawned the greatest nation the world has ever seen, is done. Stick a fork in ‘em folks.

You actually have a government official telling the people that half of them need to be killed basically, in order to save the planet. Someone needs to pipe up and tell this guy, “You first!”.

The Global Warming Cult

The science behind global warming is pretty much done. Although, the truth will not be found in a former Vice President’s PowerPoint presentation any time soon. That is of course assuming that, Dick Cheney doesn’t start showing up at random places with a laptop and projector.

Man made global warming is a myth. Those that perpetuate it are more and more being shown as frauds, as is their evidence. They continue to rely on several things to keep their “movement” going. The fact that it is called a movement should be the first clue that it has nothing to do with actual science. It is a religious movement. A cult, and nothing more.

The cultists come in several flavors.

The first is the common man who believes what he is told. Often this man is an atheist, so science is his God. He cannot come to grips with the idea that his Almighty science could be wrong, or even worse, actively misleading people. This type of cultist will believe no matter what evidence he is shown to the contrary. This group also contains the average citizen that is not invested in science but tends to believe what he sees on television. He is a reasonable type of person, but never researches anything for himself. He will leave that to the experts, and therefore, be part of the mass of sheep, heading for the fart tax factory.

Next we have the rabid environmentalist types. These people are truly dedicated to the cause. They are willing to do whatever it takes to save their beloved Gaea from the evil humans. These people are the political and increasingly military wing of the movement. They are generally Marxist/Leninist communists at heart. They hate the West, and think countries like England and the US need to be punished. All the problems of the world are the fault of the evil white conspirators.

These deranged individuals are the type that come up with this population control lunacy. They view humanity as a virus, and seek to wipe us away to protect the planet. These people occupy the Environment Studies departments of our universities, they are the political hacks that push ridiculous legislation in Washington, and they are getting more and more powerful. Their iron grip on our throats is coming. This story is clear evidence of that. The fact that they have reached the levels they have, is a clear sign, that this isn’t just going to go away. The truth can be damned, we are trying to win a war here folks.

The final cultists are the priests. These are the scientists that deliberately alter data, and the Al Gore’s of the world. Their motives either align with the nuts from above, or there is money in it for them. The scientists motivation may be found in perpetuating the scam. There is big grant money in all sorts of climate change projects. Why risk that by telling the truth?

The Goracles are the worst of the bunch. They are the scummy politicians that have everything to gain. The will be made even more wealthy if draconian legislation is passed. They just happen to own all the machinations that will be required if something like a cap and trade policy is implemented. Never mind the fact that carbon credits have been known to be a complete scam for years. These people are only in the cult for the money and the power to be made by raping the citizenry, and devastating industry.

The Goal?

So what could the goal of the cultists be exactly? These people have many goals. We need to look at the rabid environmentalist as the useful idiots of the priests first. As, we have seen before, the guys pulling the strings, are using these people for their own goals. These goals, as we said are power and money.

Ultimate power and ultimate money. This goes way beyond the Goracle’s carbon credit trading, and corn in your gas tank scams. The true goal is the wiping out of freedom. How do you do this? Well, the Soviets learned that you can’t outspend or outscare free men. You certainly can’t just attack them, as they are industrious, more industrious than you, so that won’t work.

The only thing you can do is make them need you. Really, make it so that there is no other option.

The useful idiots are truly insane as to how this should be accomplished. They have no problem with ruining the global economy, and letting half of the population starve to death. They would like to send us all back a few centuries, before we humans got all uppity, and started improving our lives.

This reasoning is exactly why they are useful idiots. The priests don’t want this. Who wants to rule over a post apocalyptic cesspool of death? Not the priests, that is for damn sure. They see this is a good opportunity to scare the sheep, and grab power, while punishing their enemies all in one swoop.

Now don’t get me wrong here. While the ultimate goal is power and money, and lots of it, these people are ideologues to a certain extent. Even the priests are trained in the ways of blaming western civilization for the problems of the world. They think we all need to be punished, and that they, the elite smart people, should show the rest of us how to behave. If we don’t want to, they WILL make us.

This is a Jewel

Beyond all the comparisons between the cultists and the Soviets. Beyond all the nutty carbon credit, and CAFE standard schemes. Beyond all the crying hippies sitting in the trees to save them.

This idea is the craziest. How does one go about deciding that removing half the population is the solution to all our worries? It really does illustrate quite well, what is wrong with the mind of the leftist. Their Utopian pipe dreams of leading us all to bliss, have gotten more people killed than any other modern movement, have always failed when implemented, and yet, are never ruled a failure, because the idea wasn’t the problem. The problem was obviously that, they weren’t the ones to implement it.

There is no atrocity that is not OK if the ends justify the means. These people have slaughtered millions and millions, and millions of people, all in the name of helping the little guy.

Here we have them actually stating that they think half of the population needs to be wiped out. Obviously the only thing sane people can do is fight them, and kill them if need be. When they start talking about getting rid of a large portion of the population, it is time to start worrying. Whatever you do, don’t report for a work assignment, allow yourself to be separated from your family, or step foot into a cattle car. You won’t come back from wherever you are going.

In the mean time pray to God for guidance, love your family, stockpile food water and ammo, and keep your eyes open.

Gotcha Commie!

March 19th, 2009

So, as I have stated here and here, the global warming scam, is the new communism. This statement needs to be clarified a bit. It is the impetus for embracing totalitarianism again.

James Hansen, the godfather of manmade global warming has this to say.

The democratic process is supposed to be one person one vote, but it turns out that money is talking louder than the votes. So, I’m not surprised that people are getting frustrated. I think that peaceful demonstration is not out of order, because we’re running out of time.”

Gotcha, you totalitarian peice of crap.

Story

Hansen, is the same guy that has been busted numerous time for cooking the data, yet is still heralded as the bright and shining altruist, that just wants to save us from ourselves.

This guy is a fanatic. He is advocating a forced approach to “solving the problem”. Cap and trade does not go far enough, he is hoping for a super Kyoto that will bankrupt the entire world economy.

No thanks Uncle Joe!

Nothing New Under the Sun

March 13th, 2009

New suckers are born every day.

Today, Josh Bearman has gone straight. He’s a successful writer in Los Angeles. But he was briefly a criminal mastermind — in 1980 — when he transferred to a new school in Minneapolis and joined the third grade.

It was a fancy school where all the kids had fancy snacks like chewy granola bars and Rice Krispies treats.

Bearman himself grew up in a spartan home with no sugar.

To make matters worse, kids wouldn’t just eat their lunches — they’d flaunt them. Every day, a brisk trade in lunch snacks would take place. Kids would pile all their best items onto one main table and start bartering.

“People would say, ‘Oh, well listen, I’ve just had my fill of Rice Krispies treats for two weeks in a row, straight. Why don’t I have some of your Fruit Roll-Ups?’ And so they would trade it all around,” Bearman recalls. “And it actually is a pretty efficient system. Everyone got what they wanted. It kind of all worked out for them. It didn’t work out for me at all because I was totally outside of this economy. Because my peanut butter and jelly sandwich had no currency value in this market whatsoever.”

Cake Futures

And so, Bearman came up with a plan. A scheme. A lie. He told his classmates that every year, on the last day of class, his mother would bake a cake. A huge cake. The most delicious cake you’ve ever tasted.

“So what I said was, ‘Listen, that’s going to be a great day. But in the meantime, I can offer you this special opportunity. And what we can do is, if you give me those Cheetos now, today, you can lay a claim — you know, on a share of this future cake. You can have a deposit, and have a piece of this cake when it comes.’ So, basically, I developed this sort of derivative lunchroom market for delicious cake futures.”
